We have been reading The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. This book inspired us to make our own rainbow fish this morning out of paper plates. First, I cut out a triangle to form the mouth of the fish. Grace helped me tape the triangle pieces to the opposite side of the paper plates to create the tails of the fish. Next, Grace and Jack painted their fish plates turquoise. While we were waiting for the paint to dry, Jack took a nap and Grace cut out small pieces of construction paper to make fish scales. Grace and Jack then glued the colored scales on their fish. They used tinfoil to create the shiny scales, just like the rainbow fish in Pfister's book!

Dearest Jack & Grace,
Your project is very sweet. I love the way you both worked so hard. This has always been one of my favorite books. Thank you for sharing this with us. I think that your fish are amazing.
I Love You Both,
Maddy
Grace looks like she's explaining her masterful work, while Jack sits back in all his glory, so proud of his accomplishment.
Grace, you are a #1 cutter. All those pretty pieces make a gorgeous rainbow fish.
Someday, we'll go to the aquarium in Boston where there are lots and lots of different kinds of fish.
We'll ask Mommy and Daddy and Jack to come too.
XOXOXO,
Memere and Pepere
