"Late Night" Snacking!

I spotted two sweet girls in our garden earlier this evening getting a "late night" snack just before their bedtime!

Jack's Arm

I was so excited for today.  Over the past few weeks I have been counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds with Jack until his cast was to be removed and today was the big day.  Last night I was thinking a lot about how it would go and I had envisioned taking Jack home after his appointment and starting some strengthening exercises to get Jack's fingers back into tip top shape for writing before he starts kindergarten next month.  I never expected to see this when the doctor took Jack's cast off today.  I am so very, very sad and worried for my Jack.  He has a severe case of dermatitis and the doctor thinks he may have some type of allergic reaction to some of the materials that were in the cast.  While wearing his cast the only thing Jack would say about it was that it itched and he would only mention this briefly at bedtime.  I knew itching was completely normal with a cast but I never imagined this was going on underneath.  My poor, poor boy.  If you could please keep Jack in your thoughts or prayers to wish for him a very quick recovery.

My Gracie Girl

I loved my special time with Grace today.  I really admire Grace for being an incredibly strong, confident, inquisitive, bright and engaging girl.  I learn something new from Grace every day.  She has so much to offer and I can't wait to see what path in life Grace chooses one day.  Whatever it may be I know that she will make a positive impact in our world.

The Portland Museum of Art

I enjoyed a special girls day out with my sweet Gracie girl at the Portland Museum of Art.  Grace was especially taken with this piece because she said it resembled our family...a Grace, a Jack and a little Evey girl.

Jump for Joy...It's the Weekend!

Surprise Visitors!

As we drove down our driveway on the way home from piano lessons this afternoon we were a bit surprised to see some visitors waiting for us in our driveway. The cows in the fields surrounding our house found an opening in their fence and discovered that the grass really is greener (and so much tastier) on the other side! The cows later joined us in our yard at dinnertime and eventually made their grand exit through our backyard.

Doctor Orders?

Jack is under strict doctor orders not to stick anything down his cast.  Hmmmm...I wonder what Dr. Rutherford would have to say about this?!!

Kettle Cove

I do so love summer days like this one.

"At the beach, life is different.  Time doesn't move hour to hour but mood to moment.  We live by the currents, plan by the tides and follow the sun."

Relaxing!

Seeing Jack floating around on an oversized floatie in the teeny tiny kiddie pool in our backyard always makes me giggle!

Saturday at the Portland Farmer's Market

We were all in awe of these two writers with their typewriters....they were able to create beautiful pieces of writing amidst the busyness and excitement of everything that was going on at the Farmer's Market.

Saturday Morning at the Library

Clouds

Clouds are one of my very favorite things. There were such beautiful clouds yesterday just before the sun set...a last little treat to end the day!

Monday in Vermont: Having Fun Around the Town of Middlebury!

Before the Festival on the Green began on the Monday we were in Vermont, we had fun swinging and sitting in one of the six "big chairs" around the town of Middlebury!
