We released our painted lady butterflies today. After having watched them grow from teeny tiny caterpillars into butterflies it was beautiful for us to watch them spread their wings and fly away. Eve loved watching the butterflies fly inside of their net just prior to their release.
Jack gets one last look at our painted ladies. I just love how Jack wore butterfly wings for our butterfly release party!
Grace was very excited for the big release of the butterflies. In the picture above she is telling the butterflies where all of the flowers around our home are!
Grace and Jack opened the butterfly net together for their release.
Jack waving goodbye to the first butterfly that flew away!
Grace running after one of our butterflies.
We fed our butterflies orange slices when the first emerged from their chrysalids. Grace asked to hang orange slices from one of our trees for our butterflies to find.
Goodbye butterflies.

This post is a children's book just waiting to be published! Rebecca, your photos, and writing are so charming. Oh, how I wish I was there with you on this day. But, it's all okay because you make the reader feel just like he/she is! Jack and those butterfly wings is just way too precious. And that last picture of him waving good-bye...it's a heartbreaker. Eve's attention and that smile of her's...oh, my! She is just so beautiful. Grace is our forever learner and lover of all things. She is our nature girl for sure...just one of the things to love about her.
Beautiful shots of you beautiful day, Rebecca. This is really a story to relive over and over.
Love to all my little butterflies up there in Maine,
Maddy
