A Snow Girl, A Snow Boy & A Snow Baby!

Grace, Jack, Eve and I spent our morning outside enjoying the freshly fallen snow from yesterday's storm.  We have been waiting for some good packing snow to build snowmen and today was the day.  We decided to make three snow friends - a snow girl, a snow boy and a snow baby (or a snow "toddler," as Eve called it!).

Eve loved sitting on the big snowballs.  In the picture above, Grace is giving Eve a kiss!

Adding the finishing touches...

Here are the finished snowmen.  We built them on our side yard so that we can easily see them from our living room and kitchen.  We enjoyed looking out at them this afternoon.

Jack hugging his snow boy.  Jack decided not to add a mouth to his snowman.  When I asked him why Jack said it was because he "couldn't figure out what snowmen eat."   :)

Eve hugging her snow toddler.  Eve decided to put a hair accessory on her snowman instead of a hat.  She also added a necklace.  For those of you who know Eve - this shouldn't surprise you!  :)

Sledding!

I took Grace, Jack and Eve to a newly discovered sledding hill near our home.  We had such a great time that we are planning on going back again tomorrow!

Just in Time...

Eve planted four paperwhite flower bulbs last month and they bloomed just in time for Christmas!

Here are pictures of Eve planting these bulbs back in mid-November...

Jack's Preschool Holiday Concert...

On Monday, Jack's preschool class put on a holiday concert for their families.  It was one of the sweetest things I have ever seen!  In the picture above, Jack is holding a candle that he made at school while singing "This Little Light of Mine."

Here is a picture of Jack at his school just before the concert began.  Jack looked so handsome in his bow tie.  He was very excited that morning to dress up for his big performance.  :)

Jack and his classmates waiting to perform for all of the families.

Jack singing Jingle Bells!

Jack and his classmates acted out The Mitten by Jan Brett.  Jack played the role of the badger!

Eve loved every moment of the performance.  Here she is looking at her big brother perform!

After the performance the children invited their families into the adjacent room.  As a way to thank everyone for coming the children set up a food and drink table and served each of their guests!  It was incredibly sweet for Jack to ask what we would like and to make a food plate for us.

Here is Jack pouring Eve a cup of apple cider.  Montessori programs emphasize helping children to develop independence through learning practical life skills.  Jack put his skills to work and was a true little gentleman!

Decorating for Christmas

Every year we decorate for Christmas the last weekend of November.  I love having the tree up for the entire month of December so that my children can enjoy it all month long!

In the picture above, Jack is using one of his drum sticks to put decorations on the top of our tree.

Jack was so excited to put the train together that we have under our tree.

Eve

Every year we place a bird's nest in our tree.  There is an old Christmas legend which says that placing a bird's nest in a Christmas tree will bring the family good health and fortune for the coming year.

I love this picture of Eve standing on her tippy toes!

Every year Grace places curled ribbons on the tree.

Eve loves playing with all of the musical Christmas toys and snow globes.

Jack with an armful of candy canes!

Eve had a great time playing inside all of the empty Christmas bins!  She kept calling herself "Eve in the box."

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas.
