Making Fog

There has been a lot of fog in our area over the past week so today we decided to make some fog of our own inside our own home. First we filled several jars with hot water. We added a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the water. Jack helped fill bags with ice and Grace put the bags of on top of the jars. Grace and Jack were amazed to watch fog develop inside their bottles. After this experiment we talked about why and how fog forms -- when a mass of cold air bumps into a mass of warm humid air, millions of tiny droplets of water are formed and that's fog!
