March 2 was a very big day at our home. It was Grace's three month birthday and it was also Dr. Seuss's 100th birthday! We celebrated this exciting day in style by participating in Read Across America day. Mommy & Grace read "The Cat in the Hat," which is 50 this year, at 2:00 along with thousands of other children in schools across the country! Maddy also took part in this wonderful celebration by surprising Grace with a special edition of "The Cat in the Hat" book and finger puppets to go along with the story! And of course, like only Maddy can, she found this cute shirt for Gracie and her red checkered hair bow -- Maddy thought the checkered bow was more girly than the cat's hat and Grace definitely agrees!
Happy 3 Month Birthday Grace.
"Oh the places you'll go. You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose!"

We might be miles apart, but it is crazy how similar we all are. (after all, we are Family =) )
MJ and I had a similar day on Friday as well. Mom invited us to her classroom to read her students The Cat in the Hat. MJ loves her Dr. Seuss books and enjoyed making her Cat noises every time I read the word , "Cat." Mom's class got a kick out of that.
Grace you are growing up and looking cuter every day. We love you.

What a cute little girl you are. Your shirt is too cute. I like your cute bow too. I wore my Cat in the Hat "hat" for the birthday bash.....My class was very excited to hear Melissa read to them and Michaela too. She walked around the room and said "hi baby" to all of my boys...They got a kick out of her. Glad you had a special three month birthday. Can't wait to see you this summer.
We love you,
Aunt Melinda
Dearest Grace,
I am so glad that you celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday!
You could not,
would not,
want to miss
a celebration
such as this!
The Cat in the Hat says, "Grace you look so cute in that!"
The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.
Grace's motto:
Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one.
A thought from Maddy:
Children are made readers on the laps of their parents.

I LOVE the fact that you LOVE books, dear Grace. You can open up a book and go to any place and to any time that you would like. I remember the summer that your Mommy made a long, long list of the books she read during summer vacation. I would drive her and your Uncle Adam 20 miles twice a week to go to the library and get more books! Ask your Mommy about it, I think that it was her summer between 3rd and 4th grade. Poppy and I have three shelves of books here for us to enjoy whenever you visit, and we can't wait!
LOVE, Maddy
