Science Fun: Inflating a Balloon with Baking Soda & Vinegar

Grace and Jack love science and conducting science experiments. Yesterday, they mixed a solid (baking soda) and a liquid (vinegar) together inside of a bottle to create carbon dioxide gas. Once the chemical reaction started they quickly placed a balloon over the top of their bottles and magically watched the balloon inflate! Through this experiment, Grace and Jack learned that the carbon dioxide gas they created was heavier than the air in the bottle. The carbon dioxide gas pushed the air upward and into the balloon to inflate it!

Rebecca, you are a brave soul. You look at what will go right instead of what could go wrong. Good for you, and the kids can attest to that is what they prefer also, and it leads to a lot more fun. Bravo!

Love all around to each of you,
Memere
