Spice Pictures!
This was a great activity that really appealed to Grace's sense of touch and smell. First, Grace chose several spices ~ cinnamon, salt, curry, coriander, dill, red pepper flakes, pizza seasoning, parsley, mustard seed, and mint. Next, Grace painted several pieces of paper with glue and then sprinkled the spices over it. Once the glue dried Grace was left with pictures that smelled wonderful and they were so visually interesting with such great colors and textures.Grace couldn't get enough of this spice activity! She loved all of the smells and the different textures of the spices. Grace spent over an hour creating her spice pictures and she later enjoyed playing, mixing and pouring the spices. In the picture above Grace has cinnamon on her forehead. I told Grace that she smelled good enough to eat!!!

Wow! I think I could almost smell those spices here in Vermont. Grace will have to come to City Market and smell all of the spices and herbs in alphabetical order in glass jars. I wonder which one would be her favorite scent?! I just love all of Rebecca's creative learning activities-she NEVER runs out of wonderful ideas.
Love, Uncle Adam
Grace, I would love to do this activity with you again, or, you can share your picture with me and we can both smell what a wonderful job you did.
Grace may be on to a new kind of make-up!
XOXOXO,
Memere
