This morning when Grace woke up she said, "President Barack Obama is coming to our house today" as she waved good morning to his picture displayed on our computer screen. I explained to Grace that President Obama was in Washington D.C. today and that he had a lot of work to do! Grace then asked, "Maybe President Barack Obama will come tomorrow?" We are so excited that Grace and Jack will grow up in a country where progress is the basis of decisions we will make tomorrow and not history. In order to honor this historic day Grace made an American flag for President Obama. Grace ripped small pieces of red and blue construction paper and sorted them into bowls.

Hi Grace:
Very nice flag!! It was quite the day today wasn't it? A new President. Your Maddy was a very happy person today. We all wish President Obama the very best.

I so loved seeing these pictures and loved that Grace was part of such a historic day. As Grace grows up, we'll have to tell her where she was and what she did on the day that Barack Obama became President Obama. Grace will keep her flag forever. It is beautiful! The "O" is amazing! The President loves it, I'm sure. He loves all the special things that little children do to help our country. Uncle Adam and I will be so excited to see Grace's flag next week. It will be so nice to see a loving family leading and setting a remarkable example for everyone. This is what it is all about!
How incredible that Grace and Jack will be part of it! They will only add to the wonder of growing up in America.
Feeling the Love and trying to spread it! Maddy
Grace, you are right again. President Obama would indeed love your flag made on his special day.
Love and hugs,
