A Very Special Sea Dogs Baseball Game

Last night we attended a Sea Dogs baseball game at Hadlock Field in Portland.  The Sea Dogs are the Double-A affiliate team of the Boston Red Sox.  One of the game sponsors was the Scarborough Schools PTA so all Scarborough students had the opportunity to go out onto the field and stand with a player during the singing of our national anthem.

Here are Grace and Jack waiting on the field just before they ran out near the pitcher's mound.  They were very fortunate to stand with the pitcher of the Sea Dogs.  Once they were out on the field Jack turned to the pitcher and asked, "How good of a pitcher are you?"   His response was, "Great!"  :)

Grace and Jack were so excited to see Slugger, who is the mascot for the Sea Dogs.  Our sweet little Eve decided not to go out onto the field because she is quite frightened of Slugger.  Eve enjoys watching and waving to him from afar but does not want to get too close!

Here are Eve, Grace, Jack and Daddy watching the game.  It rained on and off throughout the game but it certainly didn't dampen our excitement.

Grace loves Slugger and she went right up to him to give a high five.

Look who else went to the game with us....Lavender!!!  Eve laughed and laughed when her beloved "Der-Der" watched the baseball game too!

Grace and Jack were asked if they would like to play musical chairs out on the field at the end of the fourth inning.  They were both so excited to have another opportunity go back on the field for a second time.  Here they are waiting in a special section of the stands before going onto the field again.

Grace intently watched every move of the game.

Jack and Slugger!

Here is Eve giving Daddy a big kiss just before the game started.

Here are Grace and Jack on the field at the end of the fourth inning playing musical chairs.  What an amazing experience they had at the Sea Dogs game.

Jack's First T-Ball Game!

Jack started T-ball last week.  His first game was today!  Our local pizza place is sponsoring Jack's team, which is named Pat's Pizza!  Here is Jack right before the start of his very first game.  He was so excited.

Jack is #9!

Jack's coach talking to the team right before the game started.

 Jack playing third base.

Here are Jack's biggest fans...his sisters!  Grace came straight from her cross country practice to watch Jack play his first T-ball game.

 Jack up to bat!

Way to go, Jack!

Mother's Day

We spent Mother's Day weekend in Boston. My children bring me such happiness and I feel blessed and incredibly honored to be their mother.

Today I wish all mothers, especially my own mom and mother-in-law, a very Happy Mother's Day. Today and always I wish for all mothers to see the blessing and beauty that surrounds us every day in our journey as "mamas." Today I also thank my three children, who bring me indescribable joy and happiness; and who make me feel like the luckiest mama in all the world!

A Mother's Day Picnic at Jack's Preschool

I attended the sweetest Mother's Day picnic at Jack's preschool school this morning!

After the picnic the children gathered together to sing three songs to the mothers - I Love Mommy, You Are My Sunshine and Skidamarinka a doo...I Love You.

After singing Jack presented me with a Mother's Day gift.

Jack made this precious hand print flower painting, which I will treasure forever!

 My sweet and happy boy!

I wish all mothers, especially my own mom and mother-in-law, a very Happy Mother's Day weekend.

Picture Day at Maine State Ballet

Here is a sneak peek of Grace and Jack's ballet costumes for their upcoming recitals.  They had picture day yesterday.  Dress rehearsals are next week and their recital is next Saturday.  We can't wait!

May

I love the month of May.  I think it might just be my favorite month of the year.  I love the longer days, waking up every morning to the sound of birds singing, ponds full of spring peepers and opening up the windows to let in fresh air but most of all I love all of the colors.  I love the green grass, pink blossoms, colorful tulips, yellow dandelions, blue skies and the bright yellow sunshine.  This is such a beautiful time of the year.

Flowers for Mama!

Jack has always been such a little gentleman and he is quite the charmer too!  This morning he ran outside to pick the first dandelion of spring.  He had it clutched in his hands and said, "For you, Mama."  He then went on to tell me how happy he was to see the dandelions coming back because now he can pick flowers for me every day!  Such a sweet, sweet boy.

This is one of my very favorite things....a mother's vase designed to hold tiny flowers picked by children.  I love it so!

Cross Country

Grace started cross country last week.  It really is the perfect sport for her because Grace loves to run.  Her first meet is this Wednesday.

Here is Grace finishing one of her runs at practice last week.

Grace was very happy to see Jack waiting for her at the end of her run.

As Grace ran by she and Jack gave each other a quick high five before Grace finished!

Jack's Montessori Work...

Jack attends a Montessori preschool and his teachers sent me these sweet photos of Jack recently.  This week the children are learning about the life cycle of frogs.  In the picture above, Jack is drawing a picture of a tadpole.

In the picture above, Jack is working with a friend on a Dr. Seuss inspired phonics and writing activity.

Eve

My little Eve is having surgery in the morning.  It is a relatively minor surgery but general anesthesia will need to used.  I tend to be a worrier so I will be so relieved when I see Eve's beautiful bright blue eyes open back up when it is all over tomorrow.  If possible, please send lots and lots of good thoughts to my sweet baby girl tomorrow morning to help her through this.

Maine Audubon's Earth Day Clean Up

Today we participated in the Maine Audubon's Earth Day Clean Up. We chose one of our local Scarborough beaches and spent our morning helping to clean it up after the long winter. We were so happy to see other families there and by the time we left the beach it was beautiful and free of any litter!

A Broken Toe!

My sweet Gracie girl broke her toe on Thursday.  When Grace was practicing piano on Thursday morning she slipped off of the piano bench. The bench tipped over and it fell on her toe. Not only is Grace's toe broken but she also has quite a big cut on it too. I can tell how much pain Grace is in but she has not let this injury dampen her bright & shining spirit at all. I so admire Grace's strength. On the lighter side of things....there must have been some pretty serious piano playing going on for Grace to fall off of the bench! Also, do you think Grace is the first person to have broken a bone from playing the piano?!!

Got Gracie, Jack & Eve?
