Whole Grain?!

Earlier today Eve was playing with this Fisher Price game that I have had since Grace was a baby. It is a shape matching game and once the shapes are matched it makes a cookie. Halfway through playing Eve turned to me with a concerned look on her face and in a very serious voice said, "Mama...I'm VERY concerned that these cookies are not made with whole grains."

Library Time

Every Thursday Eve and I spend the morning at our public library. I love the way Eve pushes the step stool over to the big book shelves in order to find just the right book to read!

Making Soup!

We started our weekend off by making a big pot of hot soup to enjoy.  I definitely have three of the very best helpers!

Petey Cat

We have a cat named Petey. He truly is the sweetest and most gentle cat I have ever known. Grace, Jack and Eve adore him. Every day, Eve paints or colors pictures and hangs them on the wall around Petey's food and water bowl area so he has something colorful to look at while he eats! Petey is such a good boy...he always sits near his food while Eve describes her pictures to him. Petey waits until Eve is finished talking before he starts eating!

More Snow...

We are expecting another foot or more of snow over the next few days. Jack is simply beside himself with excitement.

Disbelief!

...and the snow just keeps coming and coming! Grace could hardly believe it when she woke up on Friday morning and discovered that more snow had fallen overnight. Where is it all coming from?!! smile emoticon

An Act of True Love...

Here are my two sweet little helpers that I spied out the window earlier this morning. Jack and Grace told me that they wanted to quickly go outside before breakfast to see how cold it was but unbeknownst to me they had another plan in mind. Jack and Grace both knew that the wood box inside was almost empty so they took it upon themselves to walk through waist high snow into our backyard to bring some wood inside. They wanted to surprise me and were both so happy as they carried in armfuls of the heavy wood. I had tears in my eyes as I saw them be so helpful and working together for my family.

Groundhog Day!

Groundhog Day!  Every year we make groundhogs and bring them outside to see whether we have six more weeks of winter or an early spring.  Our groundhogs here in Scarborough, Maine did not see their shadows yesterday morning and they have predicted an early spring for us. Hooray!  Although, yesterday was a snow day and we had another very big snowstorm. We could got about another foot of snow yesterday. Add that to the snow from Friday's storm and Tuesday's blizzard and that is A LOT of snow. I sure hope those groundhogs of ours are right about an early spring!
