Simple Pleasures

Bob hung this rope swing from one of the trees in our backyard over the summer. I love how the simple things in life bring so much joy to our children.

Fall Foliage at Sunrise

We are so fortunate to be surrounded by the most colorful foliage around our home. We moved to our new house at the end of the foliage season last year (the end of October) so this is our first official foliage season at our home. I took these pictures from our front porch earlier this week with three little admirers close by my side. We are early risers around here! We all wholeheartedly agree that watching the sunrise this time of the year is one of the most beautiful sites that we have ever seen. The sunrise makes the trees look as though they are glowing.

Fingerpainting Autumn Leaves

Eve loves to fingerpaint. Eve fingerpainted in a whole new way today. I placed autumn paint colors onto a piece of paper and taped plastic wrap on top. The fun began when Eve used her fingers and hands to pat, squish and move the paint around. The autumn colors blended really well and once her painting dries Grace and Jack can't wait to cut out fall leaf shapes to put on Eve's door. Eve had such a fun time with this new fingerpainting activity. She found it quite silly that the paint did not get on her hands. Speaking of hands -- don't you just love those dimples on hers?!!

Open Ended Art: Painting Autumn

I spread out a long piece of paper from one end of our art room to the other end and scattered autumn paint colors out along with a variety paint brushes and rollers, stamps and marker dots. The objective of this activity was to paint autumn! The paper remained on our floor for several days and the finished painting is a beautiful representation of autumn.

Maine's Largest Fair

Just as they did last year, Grace and Jack took to the stage at the Fryeburg Fair for an encore Little Leger dance performance! We are quite certain that our little Eve will be up on that stage next year joining her big brother and sister! You can click here to see last year's performance.

A Day at the Beach in October

We gladly accepted the gift of one last unexpected swim (!) in the ocean this past weekend. I savored every minute of our time at the beach with my family knowing that this would probably be our last swim in the ocean until next summer.

Peeling Apples

We are all about apples here! We have been incorporating apples into most of our meals, snacks and activities.

Grace and Jack LOVE to peel apples (thank goodness!). They especially enjoy peeling with their apple peeler. I think they must peel at least a dozen or so apples each day!

Baby Eve gets very excited when that apple peeler comes out. She loves how Grace and Jack give her pieces of apple in her baby safe feeder bag to eat as they peel!

After the rain...

After many, many days of rain, the gray rain clouds finally gave away to some blue skies. Yeah! One little boy around here couldn't wait to get outside. Jack skipped the getting dressed part of our morning. Instead, he opted to put his rain boots on over his moose pajamas and head outside to mow the grass -- for those of you who do not know, grass mowing is very serious business for Jack! ;)

I hope to be back tomorrow with some pictures. I am having some problems loading pictures onto our computer, which is why I have not been able to post.

I hope everyone had great weekend and I wish you all a lovely start to your week.

An Apple a Day...

It has been quite the week for the littlest Legers. As you know, Jack currently has three stitches below his lower lip as a result of a fall over the weekend. Eve has had a cold for the past few days and has not been feeling well. Grace tripped yesterday afternoon and as a result of her fall she has a huge cut on the bottom of her foot. So, we spent most of this morning at our pediatrician's office. Sweet baby Eve has an upper respiratory infection and her first ear infection. Gracie girl's foot was examined and has to be watched closely over the next few days for any sign of infection. Our pediatrician debated about stitches but decided against it because of the placement of the cut. Finally, Jack will need to have his stitches removed on Friday. Oh my...my poor babies! Once we returned home we all changed into some comfy cozy pajamas, sat out on our deck to soak in some of the warm sunshine and did a simple autumn activity of apple prints. It was a nice way to spend our quiet afternoon at home. I also hope that the expression, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" holds true for us! :)

Got Gracie, Jack & Eve?
