Eve

My little Eve is having surgery in the morning.  It is a relatively minor surgery but general anesthesia will need to used.  I tend to be a worrier so I will be so relieved when I see Eve's beautiful bright blue eyes open back up when it is all over tomorrow.  If possible, please send lots and lots of good thoughts to my sweet baby girl tomorrow morning to help her through this.

 

Maine Audubon's Earth Day Clean Up

Today we participated in the Maine Audubon's Earth Day Clean Up. We chose one of our local Scarborough beaches and spent our morning helping to clean it up after the long winter. We were so happy to see other families there and by the time we left the beach it was beautiful and free of any litter!

A Broken Toe!

My sweet Gracie girl broke her toe on Thursday.  When Grace was practicing piano on Thursday morning she slipped off of the piano bench. The bench tipped over and it fell on her toe. Not only is Grace's toe broken but she also has quite a big cut on it too. I can tell how much pain Grace is in but she has not let this injury dampen her bright & shining spirit at all. I so admire Grace's strength. On the lighter side of things....there must have been some pretty serious piano playing going on for Grace to fall off of the bench! Also, do you think Grace is the first person to have broken a bone from playing the piano?!!

Celebrating Earth Day

Happy Earth Day!   Did you know that Earth Day is the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide?!  Ever year over 100 different countries join together in the celebration of Earth Day.  We celebrated today by painting paper plates globes.  We discussed in detail what Earth day is about and various ways we can help to protect our environment and world.

We also made this planet Earth banner.  Grace, Jack and Eve used green and blue food coloring to color coffee filters.  Once the coffee filters dried we made this Earth Day banner and hung it in the windows of our kitchen.

We spent a beautiful day in Massachusetts at Memere and Pepere's house. Here are Grace, Jack and Eve with their cousins Rose & Kimberlee. I always love watching these five together...there is always so much love and laughter. They are incredibly sweet together too! Thank you to Memere and Pepere for such a special day. 

Hand Print Bunnies!

Every year we make hand print bunnies for Easter.  We've had three sets of very busy hands this week getting ready for Sunday.

An Easter Basket Snack Bag!

I surprised Grace at school today by filling her snack bag with Easter grass and packing her snack foods inside of Easter eggs!

April Snow Showers

Say it isn't so?!  We woke up to snow on the ground this morning.  Spring was so nice while it lasted.  Sadly, we were all back to wearing our winter coats, boots, hats, mittens and even snow pants today except for one little lady, who shall remain unnamed.  When I asked this wee one of mine to get her winter gear back out and on this morning she emerged like this...with the most summery shoes possible and her hat and mittens nowhere in sight.  I can't really blame her though...maybe she is onto something here.  All I can say about this weather is it will certainly make me appreciate every moment of this summer all the more!

Spring Peepers

We have a wet area in the corner of our backyard, which we refer to as the "frog pond."  Grace, Jack and Eve spend countless hours here watching tadpoles grow in the spring to catching frogs in their nets during the summer months.  This little area in our yard is so full of life and it is a place that I am so thankful for.  What I love most is about this space is that the spring peepers live here.  One of my favorite things about early spring is listening to the sound of the spring peepers at night...I do so love falling asleep every night to the sound of the peepers singing their songs.  I was so happy to first hear them on Saturday night.  Their sound is such a welcome call of spring!

Art Walk

 At the end of March Grace's school had an Art Walk.  The Art Walk was designed to celebrate the art work created by all of the students in the school!  Families were invited to view the art pieces, which were displayed on the walls up and down the hallways.  Each child in the school chose one piece of their art to display.  Here are some pictures from our art walk...
