Memere & Pepere Meet Eve!
Memere & Pepere came to visit us last Thursday. This was the first time that they met our beautiful baby Eve. Eve is Memere & Pepere's fifth grandchild!
Grace & Jack had a great time showing Memere & Pepere how much fun it is to play with playdough in our art room. Baby Eve enjoyed relaxing and napping in her bouncy seat.
Memere & Pepere were so thoughtful to bring Grace & Jack their very own Bity Baby twin dolls from the American Girl Doll collection. Grace loved dressing her new doll and combing her hair. Grace decided to name her doll Crawlyn! :)
Jack loves his new Bity baby too. Jack named his doll Curel (after the lotion he uses after bath time). :)

Special Moments From Our Week...
Grace and Eve are the two most precious girls I know! These two are unbelievably sweet together. Grace has been teaching Eve everything she knows and Eve can't stop staring at her big sister whenever she is near. I just love watching these two sisters together and I can't wait to watch their sisterly bond grow as they do.
My heart bursts with pride over this sweet little boy of mine. Jack has adjusted to his new role of being a big brother with such grace and ease. Jack absolutely adores Eve and one of my favorite things is watching him interact with his baby sister. Jack loves to give Eve toys, "teeny tiny hugs," kisses in the morning when he wakes up and kisses before bed (and every minute in-between!), and he always tells her "it's okay baby Eve" whenever she cries.
Life has never been better since Eve joined our family. She is such a gentle, sweet tempered little one that we all adore and can't seem to get enough of!!! We love Eve so much and she is the perfect addition to our family.
Grace loves to dress up Eve and pick out all of her clothes and hair accessories. I have a great feeling that these two are going to be the best of girl friends as the grow up. Whenever I look at Eve I see so much of Grace in her. Eve looks just like Grace did when she was a baby.
Jack has really taken to baby dolls this past week. Jack has a new doll that he has named Will, which he feeds, bathes, comforts, sleeps with and takes the best care of. Jack is going to make such a wonderful father (and husband!) some day.
Jack loves to carry Will around in a sling - just like Mommy does with baby Eve!

Celebrating the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

It is vital that we teach our children the importance of being kind, caring, and accepting of one another for who we are. We celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. yesterday by talking about who he was and how important he is to our history. Yesterday, Grace, Jack and Eve traced their hands and used Crayola's Multicultural crayons to color their hand prints different skin tone colors. We also talked about how we can find beauty in everything we see, especially the beautiful colors that make up all of the amazing children of this world.
Grace was especially interested in this activity. Grace traced her hand to make hand prints all throughout the day yesterday.
Jack traced his hands several times and he was such a big helper when we traced Baby Eve's hands.
Even Baby Eve had her teeny tiny fingers traced!
When the hands were completed we punched a hole in them and threaded them through a long piece of yarn. I hung the hand prints on our banister to serve as a reminder of the importance of Martin Luther King Jr. day and to celebrate diversity.

Going Home!
Here is Eve exactly one week ago today as she was getting ready to leave the hospital to go home. Hooray! I love the bottom picture of Eve because it looks as though she is waving bye-bye to the hospital and looking ahead to a whole new world of endless adventures. It was such a sweet homecoming for us as Grace and Jack immediately ran to us as we opened the door with their arms wide open.

New pictures will be coming soon!
This past week we have been loving everything that comes with a new baby -- baby sounds, sweet baby smells, watching Eve sleep, baby learning time, tummy time, tiny clothes, swaddling, feeding and oh so much more! Eve has been the perfect addition to our family. She is such a sweet and content baby girl. Bob and I are beyond proud of Grace and Jack and how well they have welcomed their baby sister into our home. First thing Grace and Jack ask for in the morning is to see baby Eve in order to give her kisses and "teeny tiny hugs." They help in any and every way that they can so that Eve is happy, warm, safe and having fun!
Bob is home with me all this coming week so we can begin our life together as a family of five. I hope to get back to some regular blog posting starting some time next week. Until then I'll try to post a few pictures when I can. It's amazing to me how much Eve has changed in just one week.
A very big thank you to Memere who came to Maine for a few days before Eve was born. A one day trip for Memere turned into a three day trip as I was in the hospital because we thought Baby Eve might be coming earlier than planned! It was comforting for me to know that Grace and Jack were so well taken care of while I was in the hospital. Thank you, Memere.
An extra big thank you to Maddy & Poppy who had been with us since the day before Eve was born. They went back to Vermont yesterday morning. I could never express how thankful and very appreciative I am to have had them with us last week. I was able to get some extra rest and focus on healing and taking care of Eve while Grace and Jack enjoyed lots of Maddy and Poppy time. As always, thank you so very much for all that you do for me, for my children, and for our family. I love you both more than words can say.

Two Days Old
We bring our precious little Eve home from the hospital tomorrow and we are all extremely excited to begin our life together as a family of five. Grace and Jack adore Eve and they have been so gentle and loving with her during their visits to the hospital each day. They both can't wait to have Eve home with them to love.I love this picture of Eve - you can see she has a little dimple in her left cheek just like Grace does! The most surprising thing about Eve is how tiny she is. Compared to Jack's birth weight of 10.2 pounds and Grace's 8.13 pounds, Eve seems so teeny tiny to us! Eve is such a sweet, cuddly and loving baby and we can't wait to bring her home tomorrow.

We Are Family
We were so thrilled to have Grace and Jack visit Eve yesterday afternoon. They were both very excited to finally see their sister.
Grace has been lobbying for months to take complete care and custody of Eve. She has done a full pre-baby safety inspection of our house and identified numerous "one thing that concerns me ...." areas.
Jack was also eager to meet his baby sister. Jack calls Eve "E-V-E" as Grace has been spelling out Eve's name many many times to prepare Jack for her arrival. Jack even chose to spend time with Eve at the hospital rather than go see a helicopter, plane, train, or truck!
Mary Ann and Walter had such tremendous joy seeing baby Eve. It was so great to see the pride in their eyes ... and they have so much to be proud of with their beautiful granddaughter and perfect daughter who dedicates all of herself to her family.

Eve
Our sweet baby Eve will be joining our family tomorrow morning! I am scheduled for a C-section at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow. I hope to post some pictures of Eve from the hospital later tomorrow or some time over the weekend. We can't wait to meet our newest little love and introduce her to all of you.

Another Wonderful Christmas Celebration...
On Saturday we celebrated Christmas with Memere, Pepere, Auntie Allison, Uncle Steve, Rose and Kimberlee. We were supposed to get together the day after Christmas but the big blizzard altered our plans a bit! We were very fortunate to have spring-like weather on Saturday (notice NO COATS!) so that Grace and Jack could enjoy their new bicycles and helmets outside with their cousins. Thank you so much to everyone for coming to Maine to celebrate with us. We so enjoyed our day together and the time shared was the best gift of all! Here are a few pictures from our day together...Sunday, January 2, 2011
Ringing in the New Year!
We celebrated New Year's Eve at the Children's Museum! The museum had a pajama party that was filled with crafts and special events which all led up to a countdown and a balloon drop at 2 p.m.. Grace and Jack were able to experience all of the magic of New Year's without a late bedtime. The pajama party was so much fun and the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of 2011!
