Happy Flag Day

The Fourth of July is traditionally celebrated as America's birthday, but the idea of an annual day specifically celebrating the Flag is believed to have first originated in 1885 by BJ Cigrand, a schoolteacher, in Fredonia, Wisconsin. She arranged for her pupils to observe June 14 (the 108th anniversary of the official adoption of The Stars and Stripes) as 'Flag Birthday'. Grace painted a beautiful American flag to celebrate and honor this special day.

Grace, I love Flag Day (it's Poppy and Uncle Adam's birthdays!) our flag waving in the breeze, large flags and smalls flags and especially your flag. You did a great job. Every month I wait to see what art work you and Mommy will do next. I love them!
